Mentorship and Leadership

Mentorship of new and transitioning ED staff has been a formal focus of my work since 2021. I helped to create the mentor job description, schedule mentors and follow-up on mentors and staff in a busy urban emergency department and level 1 trauma center for the Fraser Health Authority.
Leading quality improvement initiatives has also been a driving force in my work, and through consultation and implementation of learnings from PDSA cycles I have helped lead many projects in multiple Fraser Health Authority Emergency Department and now do similar work for the Trauma Program in Fraser Health.

My most recent work involves:
1. developing a patient satisfaction survey with help from multiple stakeholders for use in our FHA Trauma Outpatient Clinics
2. refining existing orientation checklists to fit for all FHA sites and meet provincial trauma orientation criteria

I have attended several conferences and taken a number of courses to enable personal development. In the past 6 months I have attended the VGH Provincial Burn education day and the Island Trauma and Critical Care conference and will attend the St Paul's Hospital Emergency Medicine Update and the Resuscitation symposium.

I have also completed multiple courses including: Clear leadership, Simulation facilitator course, Simulation debriefing course, pulse editing and writing for the internet and facilitating virtual education.
