In 2016 the Overdose crisis was declared a public health emergency in BC, because of the number of people dying from using substances.
As clinical nurse educator for the Emergency network I worked on many projects to try to improve care for people with substance use, as well as other ED initiatives.
I helped develop the Trauma and Resilience Informed course for ED staff, implemented naloxone kits dispensing in our emergency departments, and worked on clinical practice guidelines and pre-printed orders to guide care for this population.
